José González – Teardrop (Massive Attack Cover)
Posted by Charlie Goodvibes on May 6th, 2010I came to this song rather randomly – it was playing during a particularly pensive point in an episode of House. I don’t remember what was happening, but there was a lot of uneasiness as to whether or not is was Lupus. Or something.
Anyway, Teardrop was the first Massive Attack song I heard back in the day, and it took me a bit to recognize this as a cover when I heard it. It seems too perfect. Interestingly, the original version of Teardrop (watchable in all its fetus-glory here) is the opening theme music for House, so I guess the cover is pretty fitting.
The video is a serious religious acid trip, but I like it. The song itself is brilliant, and much like the Obadiah Parker cover of Idioteque, it holds weight all on its own.
As always, you can check out more stuff by the incredibly talented José González on his MySpace and his personal site here.
